Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this experience.

Is the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek suitable for beginners?

Yes, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the best options for beginners in Nepal. The trail is well-marked, the altitude is moderate, and daily walking hours are manageable. While there are uphill sections and stone staircases, basic fitness and preparation are enough to complete the trek comfortably.

What is the maximum altitude of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek?

The highest point of the trek is Poon Hill at 3,210 meters. This altitude is considered relatively safe compared to high-altitude treks, which means the risk of altitude sickness is low, though travelers should still stay hydrated and walk at a steady pace.

What is the best time to do the Poon Hill Trek?

The best seasons are autumn (October–November) and spring (March–May). Autumn offers clear skies and excellent mountain visibility, while spring brings blooming rhododendron forests. Winter is also possible but colder, and monsoon season is less recommended due to rain and slippery trails.

How difficult is the Ghorepani Trek?

This trek is classified as moderate. It involves walking 4–6 hours per day with gradual ascents and descents. The biggest challenge is the stone steps, especially on the way to Ghorepani, but the pace can be adjusted according to your comfort.
