Detailed Itinerary

Follow your journey roadmap step-by-step through this experience.

Day 01

Fly to Pokhara & Local Sightseeing

10 AM to 6 PM

Travel Distance: 200 km (air route)

Travel Duration: 25 min flight and 3 to 4 hrs local sightseeing

Max Altitude: 822 m

Overnight: Pokhara

Meal: Lunch

Accommodation: Hotel

You will take a morning domestic flight to Pokhara. Airlines typically allow 15–20 kg of baggage, so it’s important to pack accordingly. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel near Lakeside.

In the afternoon, you will visit the World Peace Pagoda, which requires a short uphill walk (approximately 20 to 30 minutes walk). Then you will proceed to Pumdikot Shiva Temple, where there are stairs to climb, so comfortable footwear is recommended.

Pokhara has better infrastructure compared to mountain regions, so this is a good place to withdraw cash, as ATMs are limited in Mustang. Pharmacies, gear shops, and restaurants are easily available here.

Day 02

Drive to Jomsom via Marpha

10 AM to 6 PM

Travel Distance: 160 km

Travel Duration: 7 to 8 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,743 m

Overnight: Jomsom

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel

The drive starts early due to road conditions and wind patterns in the Mustang region. The road is a mix of paved and off-road sections, especially after Beni. Expect a bumpy ride in some parts, so motion sickness medication may be useful.

You will follow the Kali Gandaki River, which is known for being the world’s deepest gorge. Lunch is usually taken at a local roadside lodge. Hygiene standards are basic, so carrying hand sanitizer is recommended.

At Marpha village, you will have a short stop. The village is known for its locally produced apple products like juice, cider, and dried apples. You can also observe traditional stone-paved alleys and flat-roofed houses.

Upon reaching Jomsom, temperatures drop significantly compared to Pokhara, especially in the evening. Basic facilities such as Wi-Fi and hot showers may be available but often come with extra charges.

Day 03

Muktinath Visit & Mustang Exploration

10 AM to 6 PM

Travel Distance: 100 km

Travel Duration: 6 to 7 hrs

Max Altitude: 3,800 m

Overnight: Jomsom

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel

We will start the day early to avoid strong afternoon winds. The drive to Muktinath is bumpy and involves going through rough mountain roads, so expect a slow drive to the temple. Once you reach Muktinath temple, there is a short uphill walk and stairs to reach the main temple area so on this day make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Once you reach the temple there are 108 water spouts and it is said that whoever walks through the 108 water spouts cleanses themselves from any negative energy. However, it is necessary to keep in mind that the water is very cold so if you are planning to participate in this ritual make sure to carry a towel and extra clothing.

Afterward, you will visit Kagbeni village, which serves as the gateway to Upper Mustang. The village has narrow alleys and traditional houses. You may visit a monastery, where entry may require a small donation.

On the way back, you will stop at Dumba Lake. There are limited facilities here, so carry water and snacks. Return to Jomsom by afternoon to avoid strong winds.

Is altitude sickness a concern on this trip?

The highest point of the trip is Muktinath at 3,800 meters. While the itinerary is designed to minimize risk (with gradual ascent), some travelers may experience mild symptoms such as headache or fatigue. It is important to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and inform your guide if you feel unwell.

What type of accommodation is provided?

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will stay in comfortable hotels with modern amenities. In Jomsom, accommodation is usually in basic guesthouses or lodges with essential facilities. Heating, Wi-Fi, and hot showers may be available but often at an extra cost.

What kind of food is available during the tour?
